Two Common Blog Writing Problems Solved

Two of the most common problems faced by business bloggers are the frequency and length of posts. Let’s face it—if you own or run a business, you have about 200 things that you need to do every day. One part is the marketing efforts that keep your doors open. Though blogs are a powerfully tool in your marketing arsenal, it is hard to find the time post on a regular and frequent basis. And being an expert in your field makes it hard to break things sown into short 200 word sound bites. Some concepts are just too complex to say in one screen.

If you read this blog regularly you have probably noticed that I suffer from both of these problems. I am always trying new techniques to improve the frequency of my post and simply the process. There are about a million techniques to solve these issues like creating an editorial calendar and hiring a ghostwriter. I have one simple solution that addresses both problems that you can start using today.

Try breaking your longer posts into a series of 2 or 3 related posts. This approach has a lot of benefits, the major ones being:

  • Shorter posts are easier to read. We are all busy and most times just read the high points of a long article anyway. Make it easy for readers to digest your points but presenting one at a time.
  • Series are a great way to build your site traffic and encourage repeat visits. If your story is compelling, your readers want to know how it ends.
  • You get more bang for your buck. This one is stupidly obvious. Breaking long posts into multiples you get more articles for the same amount of effort making it easier to post fresh content more often.

And in the spirit of eating my own cooking that’s all I am going to say on the subject—short, sweet, and to the point. Do you have any other “quick” tips on how to post more often and succinctly?
