New Facebook Groups Could Be Big for Business

Oops! Mark did it again…That’s right Facebook rolled out more new stuff last week. Normally I wouldn’t pay a lot of attention to the hype this new groups feature has got me thinking thanks to this article. It certainly provides a way to connect more closely with targeted groups in your business. (And not that groups are anything new, hello Google, LinkedIn, and Yahoo.) However, there are a lot of people on Facebook and many of them only want to be on Facebook so it is worth taking a look.

7 Tips to Mastering Facebook Advertising

I have been talking with several clients about the power Facebook advertising especially when you need to reach a very specific audience. In fact, I just helped a client set up her first campaign last week. She was more than a little confused by the process and I found it timely to see this article published. If you are thinking about dabbling in Facebook ads or just want to know more, this a great article to get you started.

How to Turbo-Boost Your Facebook Page With Apps

If you have been struggling with what to do with your Facebook page or how to really get your fans involved, check out this article. It has a couple of nuggets—I specifically ate up the idea of hosting weekly live chats on your page. I Love Local

For a long time, I have been trying to shop local, sustainable, and organic whenever I can. To me the local and sustainable are really two sides of the same coin. While large corporations have their place (I’ll never be able to break my Target addiction), in many ways they separate us too much from the fulfillment of our basic needs. It is amazing to hear how the farmer harvests my vegetables or how the rancher raised the beef that I am eating—that knowledge connects me to my food sources and makes it more REAL. The things I buy stop being stuff and return to being actual items like a steak, a bunch of carrots, or a sweater that was created (in one way or another) by an actual human.

Without getting to heavy into the politics, I want to tell you about a couple of things that I am doing to support local, sustainable, or just better products.

Status Update

At 910 West, 2009 has been a great year though has definitely been more like riding a roller coaster than cruising down the highway. Our team has grown from two, Mike and Jasmine, to 5+. Whew! We can’t believe it and to those who ask we say “what recession?”

Though we are excited to have launched our new website and blog this year, we definitely have areas where we want to improve. In 2010, our mantras will me more and more often. Look for new posts at least twice per month (and maybe even more). We are also talking with experts in several related fields to expand the types of marketing that we cover.

In the meantime, the blog is taking a hiatus for the holidays. We won’t be adding new posts until January. But never fear, we will be back a fresh look and posts on setting marketing goals, explaining integrated marketing strategy, tips and tool to create or improve your blog, and of expert articles.

Thank you for reading.

The 910 West story

My husband and I started 910 West in response to a need I discovered while working with a good friend to market her salon. She had just acquired the business and needed help bringing in more clientele. At the time, I was working full-time as a computer technician but would mention my “side job” to friends and family. I was surprised by the number of them who had a business they wanted to promote or knew someone who did. I realized that nearly all small businesses need marketing help.

Since my initial realization, I have worked with my husband to create a small business based on meeting the marketing needs of other small businesses. Our mission is to increase your business through effective marketing solutions including print, web, and identity design. We make your business look good while helping to make it successful.
