I knew to use the @twittername format to indicate that my was a reply to another user. I did not know that if i put the @twittername first before the rest of message it would be visible to both of us and our followers. And if I put the @twittername inside the message then only the person I responded to and my followers would see it. Their followers would not. Good to know!
